Educating CEOs Worldwide on How the Triggering Event Adds Business Value
It is not an uncommon belief among advisors that owners do not want to talk about exit. In fact, you likely feel this same way. Exit is a dirty word, right? WRONG.
99% of surveyed business owners agreed with this statement:
“Having a transition exit strategy is important to both my personal future and the future of my business.”
So, 99% know and may even want to be exit ready.
“Think of an owner’s business like a tomato garden they are growing in their backyard, and exit is the act of plucking the fruit off the vine without ruining the plant,” says Scott Snider during his main stage speech at the Arizona Owners Forum, “No one grows a beautiful, fruit-bearing tomato plant to never harvest the fruit. As an owner myself, I want to grow my business now and I want to harvest the value when I’m ready.”
That said, advisors certainly do have one thing right: Owners are not exit ready.
Transition rates show low success and all recent report findings in the State of Owner Readiness research show that despite agreeing that transition strategy is important, few owners are doing anything about it.
Why? Lack of education on exit strategy itself.
To help empower owners to bring exit planning into the present and to enable advisors to break through their siloed point of view and take a more holistic look at the true needs of an owner’s financial, business, and personal life, EPI is dedicated to spreading good information and awareness to the entire business community.
Last week, CEO World Magazine published an article, written by EPI CEO Chris Snider , called “Adding Value with the Triggering Event,” to educate over 10 million CEOs worldwide on how starting down the path of exit readiness benchmarking is the key to best-in-class business results today and (as Scott would say) harvesting your garden in the future on your terms.

About Exit Planning Institute:
The Exit Planning Institute (EPI) is an education company that provides exit planning education to advisors and middle market business owners. We view exit planning as a strategy, not an event.
EPI leads the professional services profession with the best industry content, ongoing support, and owner education platform, all of which align with our mission: Change the outcome.
Only 2 out of every 10 businesses that come to market actually sell. We want to increase the number of saleable businesses.
Only 30% of family businesses successfully transition to the second generation, only 12% transfer to the third, and the success rates diminish from there. We want to improve those intergenerational transitions.
Of those that succeed in the sale of their business, 75% experience “profound regret” within one year of exiting their business. We want to understand why and create strategies that achieve profound success, wealth, and satisfaction.
EPI is an education company, powered by an elite community of top advisors and owners, all focused toward creating a valuable, transferable future for the business marketplace.
