Focus on value; not just income.
Business value is the primary long-term goal; not income. This sounds like a subtle play on words, but, this is a major paradigm shift. Most owners of lower to middle market businesses have “lifestyle” businesses. Lifestyle businesses generate a nice income for the owner. But focusing on income alone does not mean the business has any transferable value. Read Chapter 6 of Walking to Destiny, which describes the relationship between Value and Income. You can have both.
Change the outcome. –Chris
